Where did I get the name Lemons & Gold from? Well, a few years ago around the time I was completing my undergrad degree, Lemons & Gold was supposed to be a website all about Mental Health and Wellness, and the appreciation of both, the good and bad parts of life. After all, light cannot exist without darkness. Lemons are sour, Gold is sweet. Lemons & Gold.

But, I got so burned out with college (yo, being an English major is NO joke!) and the whole transitioning phase back into mainstream society, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with it and kind of lost the passion for writing. I took a whole year off, and with the big bad “pandemonium” of 2020, I ended up taking an even longer break from both, reading and writing. So, this year, while on my Summer break from Grad School, I decided I would showcase my actual art as a Fiction Writer.

One of my professors from this past semester had us write fictional microburst stories of 1,000 words or less and I found it to be a lot of fun! So, I thought to myself, “I could turn this activity into a blog! Better yet, let’s write a whole series where each episode is around 1,000 words or less! On top of that, I’ll get back to writing the first draft of one of the most controversial novels I’ve written so far, Scribe.”

So here you have it! I have rebranded Lemons & Gold to be a Flash Fiction blog filled with writing from Black writers, like myself, to come together with all of the cultures, languages, dialects, and experiences that include every one of the Black Diaspora! Pardon my stardust since I am just getting re-started with this blog, but I truly hope you enjoy yourself and stay along for the ride! Thanks for stopping by!

Now, go read Lola Sky! You’re gonna be hooked!
